Before the comments get flooded. No, I don’t see trans men as women just because I create space for them to identify with contradictory labels. I think forced conformity takes power away from queer experiences. If you’re trans and don’t want to identify with queerness, that’s completely okay. But by invalidating the experiences other queer and trans people on the basis of an oversimplifation of heteronormative labels, you’re actively denying and alienating the people who gave us the freedoms to be who we are. By erasing queerness you erase LGBT history. That’s why I will always provide a space for validity for nonconformal experiences, even when it defies conventional understanding of gender and sexuality. #lgbt #transgender #nonbinary #nonconforming #gender #gnc #lesbian
Y’all so clearly relate cisgender experiences and expressions with “realness” as if that ideology isn’t problematic. I shouldn’t have to explain to trans people why their experience is allowed to contain nuance around gender or orientation labels. It’s contained in the history of our privileges. #trans #frm #queer #lesbian
