Welcome to all these wonderful new faces! After our calliope went viral last week, a lot of people had questions! First of all, we’re so glad we brought so many of you joy. We’re going to keep doing that! Second, we pronounce it Ca-LIE-oh-pee. Third: yes, it is powered by steam, much like a pipe organ (in fact, the inventor of the steam calliope was rumored to have tried to sell it to churches. Can you imagine, with a sound that can carry 10 miles?) Fourth: can be tuned, but it’s really difficult. We’re taking notes on your requests, but we’re dealing with some minor flooding right now so our main concern is cleanup.
