Navigating cappys new routine has been a learning curve. Preparing his diapers, changing his shirt, keeping the diaper on.. all with my back beginning to flare up. This has been a test on my patience. Wiggling out of his diaper followed with my deep breath. Hoping tomorrow goes smoother. It's not perfect, but it's intentional #catcare #petcare #cuddlycats #bedtimeroutine
Cappy's doo doo is a mystery. Lately his IBD (irritable bowel disease) has been top of mind as we navigate his urine/ fecal scalding & infection prevention going forward. Today our vet recommended a microbiome gut test for cats to establish his baseline. It uses DNA sequencing technology to detect bacterial imbalances; identify specific harmful and beneficial bacteria, and provide customized recommendations. I was shocked. I've never heard of anything like this. The craziest part is there are literally doo doo microbiota transplant solutions to address chronic conditions. I'm shook. I'm excited. Cappy will have his doo doo sent off to the lab tomorrow. I'm feeling so hopeful for our bear, and I can't thank our vet care providers enough for all the love and support they put into Cappy's wellbeing. The gut microbiome test and material transplant is by animal biome 🐱🐶
Cappy was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his right hip in 2019. Our vet at the time made a remark after reviewing his X-rays after I had mentioned he became more irritable with his diaper routines, specifically when l'd stretch the diaper straps around his hips. After the wonky hips remark, I thought to myself.. hmmm so this is the beginning. But it wasn't the beginning of his decline. Rather, it was the beginning of his new trajectory with a well intentioned and balanced lifestyle that accommodates his osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is degenerative, so although I can't magically fix his hips, I can absolutely manage his comfort and keep his joints working as well as possible for as long as possible. ✨ Cappy may have paresis, but OA is very common for all cats. Our osteoarthritis tips and tricks continue to evolve, but here is my current list for Cappy's care routine: 🪄monthly solensia injections 🪄acupuncture and laser therapy twice a month 🪄arnica gel to alleviate any discomfort on his neck and backside 🪄cosequin added to his meals (is linked to bladder benefits too) 🪄adequan to renew joint cartilage building blocks 🪄elevated food bowls for neck support 🪄runners and rugs throughout the home! #catcare #osteoarthritis #cats #seniorcat #jointcare #paresis #disabledcat #inspiration
Replying to @Kat von Hacke i spend about an hour each day cleaning, organizing, laundry, picking things up, making beds, etc... clean floors 3-4x a week. And all our rugs are easily washable. Use Bissell products for most things!! The key is to never get things too dirty. Always do a little bit each day. That way it never gets too overwhelming. I sort of break down tasks by days. Some days are floor days, other days are bathroom days, etc. Scott also has certain chores he takes care of each day. It's a lot but it's manageable ✨🩵
Cappy's rescuer in Dubai messaged me this morning and shared his baby kitten photos.. 🥹 My heart can't take it omg 💖💖💖💖 im so grateful being able to stay connected with Cappy's care team through all these years, even being across the world. 🌎 thank you so much shammi 🐱
Cappy was so scared of the storm 🥺 In order to keep Cappy comfortable and at ease, I make sure he's in a safe and cozy space, without windows, or extra noise. He feels most brave in a small room, with the fan on, comfy blankies, a few toys to keep his spirits bright, and some positive affirmations hehe. He was so brave!!!! 🩵✨🐱☔️⛈️
Five ways I honored my first rescue cat on my wedding day. Just feeling sentimental and wanted to share how I made sure to include the most meaningful people and animals in my life for our big day. If you want to include your pets on your wedding do, DO IT! Highly recommend
Abdominal ultrasound for Cappy tomorrow 🩵Symptomatically, Cappy is fine right now, but it's no secret Cappy has been experiencing reoccurring urinary infections more so now than ever. In addition to a recent cystitis flare up and the urine scalding drama. Things have just been.. more delicate lately. Mentally I've been a bit more fragile too. So we are doing a little digging and investigating to see if anything's changed. I'm not anticipating anything remarkable. Nonetheless, establishing Cappy's baseline as he navigates his middle aged cat years is very important. Will keep you guys updated on his big day 🐱✨🩵
