Window tint laws: If you choose to ignore the law altogether, an officer can order you to an inspection facility where you will be forced to remove the tint from the vehicle. Police must be able to identify the driver. Even if you purchased the vehicle somewhere else, you would have to get the tint removed. The onus is on the owner. The classic 'public safety' vs 'revenue generation' conversation continues. There are no set allowances in terms of speeding, the limit is the limit. We all know that the law as stated is not always common practice. I don't know any police officer who has actually pulled someone over for 1 or 2 over the limit, however police will not publicly state allowances, nor should they. There's all kinds of rumours and myths out there. Also, should all speeding be treated the same? Yes, you can legally drive with bare feet! I'd even say it's safer than driving with some sandals or flip flops which are designed to slide off easy and get caught up. Another myth: Police can't give tickets outside their jurisdiction. They absolutely can and do! Same with highway patrol, they can give tickets in the city and vice versa. I've done it, and I know officers who have done the same. On a side note, I also arrested a person for robbery while off-duty in a whole other municipality. Top 3 tickets - Country wide! These are the same top three tickets issued by @Officer Papadopoulos in 2024. It's the same no matter where you are. Keep in mind, these are Provincial offences and fines differ depending on where you are. Ontario has Stunt Driving, BC has Excessive Speeding. Certainly seems to be more expensive in Ontario, however both will affect your insurance rates. It's not worth it! You get the ticket - even if you don't own the vehicle! The onus is on the driver. If you're borrowing a car from a friend or family member, and they have illegal window tints, plate covers, loud exhaust, etc, you get the ticket if pulled over. Something to keep in mind. All plate covers are illegal! Also, you can still receive the ticket even if you're not the registered owner of the vehicle but you're the one driving when pulled over by police.
