"We really didn't consider him a cardinal from the United States," Dolan said on #TODAYShow, citing the Pope's years spent living in Peru and Vatican City, adding, "Heck, when I was with (TODAY Show) before the conclave, and you were asking me about the American cardinals, we didn't mention him, remember?"
