I don’t think politics should be about changing other people’s opinions, and I’d rather focus on the kind of person you are. 6. I hate celebrating my birthday. It makes me so sad because I feel guilty that people are spending time on me. It’s something I’m working on, but every year, it’s the same feeling. Hace dos meses que adoptamos a Roli, un yaco que vivía en la casa de un matrimonio bastante mayor. Según me contaban el loro había sido inicialmente de la madre de esta mujer, sin saber exactamente de dónde lo adquirió, pasado de mano en mano entre familiares por vejez, fallecimiento o decidían desentenderse (madre, tía, hija…) hasta que finalmente llegó a sus manos hace bastantes años. Así que hemos estimado que probablemente Roli puede tener más de 25-30 años. Se me partía el alma mientras me contaban esto, ya que este yaco había pasado todos esos años en esa misma jaula que estaba ante mis ojos, pequeña, sucia, con dos únicos palos fijos, sin salir y comiendo únicamente a base de pipas y cacahuetes. No tenía pensado tener otro loro más en casa, pero me dio tantísima pena que estuviera en esa situación que estuve varias semanas convenciéndoles para que pudiera llevármelo e informándoles de que eso no era vida para el animal. Finalmente entre lágrimas decidieron dármelo sabiendo que iba a tener una vida mucho mejor. Llevamos dos meses trabajando con el, desde el día en que llegó a casa. Ya sabía que iba a ser un caso algo complicado, pero ha mejorado mucho en estos meses. Llegó claramente muy asustado, muy poco sociable, y a pesar de tener la puerta abierta de la jaula no salía, tenía miedo de la mano humana, bastante agresivo, y acostumbrado a estar en una única percha fija siempre. Poco a poco hemos ido cogiendo confianza con él (no sin algunos picotazos importantes de por medio), hemos conseguido cambiarle la dieta base a pienso, hemos conseguido que salga de su jaula por primera vez en más de 30 años, hemos conseguido que nos de besos, que picotee y juegue con algunos juguetes de madera, movemos la jaula y abrimos su puerta sin que se tire a picar… pero aún sigue teniendo muchísimo miedo a cosas nuevas, no cambia de percha aunque tenga muchas, se las vamos cambiando de posición, tiene pánico a las perchas que se mueven (como cuerdas, columpios, todo lo que no es estable), tiene muchísimo pánico cuando sale de su jaula, se asusta, planea un poco y se cae o se golpea contra paredes u objetos, es normal que un loro encerrado 30 años en una pequeña jaula tenga artrosis en las articulaciones y le cueste volar a parte de no tener ningún tipo de experiencia en 30 años con el planeo, el vuelo o el aterrizaje; no tolera aún la mano humana prácticamente casi nada y podría seguir… Le hicimos las pruebas correspondientes de enfermedades contagiosas en loros y dio negativo en todas así que ya pudimos probar a traer al resto de loros al salón. Tiene bastante pánico a las demás aves y cuando están cerca se tira a picar, aunque es lógico por que es su jaula, lo que se considera ahora mismo su “territorio” y zona de confort, y si tiene cerca alguno se tira a picar. Solo llevamos dos meses pero ya vemos bastante cambio, aunque vamos a seguir necesitando muchos meses más o incluso años para ver más avances significativos o poder introducirle con los demás (si es que se consigue).
