You guessed it, Pete's Seafood & Sandwich. Jonathan grew up in Boston for the majority of his life and in the summer, nothing hits harder than a true East Coast lobster roll, which is hard to come by in San Diego. AND AND AND... it was $29 which is a STEALLL guys. It's around that price, if not more, in Maine/Boston so the fact that allllll the way over on the West Coast it's still that price range is unreal. They're just nailing New England style seafood here in general. The fried shrimp plate? Slaps. The Clam Chowder? Slaps. Calamari?!?! Slaps. They also have a ton of sandwiches available so we had to try the Chicken Parm which was huge & phenomenal with really good bread, & the Shrimp Po' Boy was equally as impressive. If you love fried sides, definitely indulge in the onion rings (they were so perfectly thin and delicately breaded) and the mozzarella sticks which provided a great cheese pull. I need to try the fried pickles next time! Overall, Pete's Seafood and Sandwich is doing it right, and we're SO glad we found this gem in North Park. This restaurant is incredibly popular in China for its authentic Chinese Suan Cai fish. If you've never had it before, it is essentially thinly sliced white fish poached in a rich broth flavored with sichuan peppers, ginger, garlic, and the key ingredient: pickled cabbage. I will be transparent in that I have never tried this type of cuisine before and I was a little nervous, however I firmly believe you should never write any type of food off, because you'll never know unless you try it. So, if you're used to staying in your comfort zone, I urge you to try something new because it was INSANELY GOOD 🤤 I'm not kidding, I can't stop thinking about it. Check out everything we ordered below, they were all incredibly delicious and flavorful. P.S. you can absolutely get a small soup. We got a large and it was massive for the two of us. the broth is super flavorful and the fish was light and tender. If you enjoy vinegar/slight spice, you'll love this one. It will also stay VERY hot during your entire meal, so don't be like me and burn your tongue haha. The staff were also super nice, and you just order everything via a QR code at your table. They even import their rice from China! Overall, such a gem of a spot. It does get very busy during main meal times, so prepare for a little bit of a wait. I promise though, it is so worth it. 10/10 meal and I am very excited to come back.
